Socrates said that the "unexamined life" isn't worth living. Don't know for sure that I agree it's not worth living. But over many years of marriage, having and "raising" children, being self-employed and running corporations I have come to one very clear conclusion: the better I've come to know myself and understand what makes me tick, the better my life has gone.
The next big step in that scenario that I've learned is once you get a handle on your own style of getting results, moods, opinions and inner motivators, then you can better accept and work with other who have different, but equally valid, types of behavior styles. In the 40s and 50s the "greats" like Marston, Maslow and many others were getting a grasp on our more modern understanding. The simple exhortation of Socrates to "to know thyself" -- began to expand and evolved into much greater wealth of understanding. Then in the 70s a man named John Geier (and his collaborative partners) took many of these former works and codified them into a simple-to-use and administer "instrument" of psychometric learning. In the years that have followed this instrument has been owned, copied, mimicked and shared with many millions of people in work places around the globe. My, husband, Tom and I were blessed to originally be trained and mentored by Dr. Geier (John to us) in the late 70s. Over the years we have been allowed to teach and train many thousands of people how to KNOW THYSELF, first and then understand others better. It is a life-long process and mission. Watch our blog for info about how we are taking this to another level and making it the ground work for FUN TO START OVER!!!
