Hey Friends of Fun and Success!
Finding little nuggets to share with you all makes for such a delightful morning! I'm sure most of you are familiar with the late great Jim Rohn. He shared such wisdom and humor in understanding others and working well with them. Hope these words inspire you as much as it does us. Have a wonderful day and a fabulous week! Tom and Linda Don’t Send Your Ducks to Eagle School Article by: Jim Rohn The first rule of management is this: Don’t send your ducks to eagle school. Why? Because it won’t work. Good people are found, not changed. They can change themselves, but you can’t change them. If you want good people, you have to find them. If you want motivated people, you have to find them, not motivate them. I picked up a magazine not long ago in New York that had a full-page ad in it for a hotel chain. The first line of the ad read, “We do not teach our people to be nice.” Now that got my attention. The second line said, “We hire nice people.” I thought, What a clever shortcut!” Motivation is a mystery. Why are some people motivated and some are not? Why does one salesperson see his first prospect at seven in the morning while the other sees his first prospects at 11 in the morning? Why would one start at seven and the other start at 11? I don’t know. Call it “mysteries of the mind.” I give lectures to a thousand people at a time. One walks out and says, “I’m going to change my life.” Another walks out with a yawn and says, “I’ve heard all this stuff before.” Why is that? The wealthy man says to a thousand people, “I read this book, and it started me on the road to wealth.” Guess how many of the thousand go out and get the book? Answer: very few. Isn’t that incredible? Why wouldn’t everyone go get the book? Mysteries of the mind. To one person, you have to say, “You’d better slow down. You can’t work that many hours, do that many things, go, go, go. You’re going to have a heart attack and die.” And to another person, you have to say, “When are you going to get off the couch?” What is the difference? Why wouldn’t everyone strive to be wealthy and happy? Chalk it up to mysteries of the mind and don’t waste your time trying to turn ducks into eagles. Hire people who already have the motivation and drive to be eagles and then just let them soar. Credit to NightingaleConant FUN TO START OVER...
A few months ago, we started a THIS BLOG to provide inspiration, fun and ideas for generating success and joy for you, our readers. And for the fun of it for us! It is our goal to periodically send videos, articles and other content written by ourselves or others who overcome failure, started over and gone to to achieve their dreams. We desire to provide things that people might enjoy reading, viewing and contemplating. We want to provide things that will add value to our reader's lives. There is a lot of inspiring and enlivening content out there... Learning from the successful stories of others has always been of great value to us. We'd love to share this wonderful video --many of you may have seen it before, but it bares repeatedly watching. WATCH FAMOUS FAILURES NOW! Have a great summer! Tom and Linda Williams Hi Friend, Here's something to light you up! Whatever business you are in... a lot of the time, things won't work the way you want them to... You can take that one of two ways: you can get as frustrated as heck OR you can smile about the data you've gathered about what doesn't work. Logically, that means that you're closer to a solution, right? In his process to perfect the light bulb, Thomas Edison was asked by a reporter about his slow progress, and why he was seemingly plagued with failure. His response is a famous one: Take Edison's attitude into your business AND personal life, and watch things change dramatically.
All of a sudden, life becomes a fun game of learning, testing and tweaking... where every win, and every loss, ...is a step forward. Relax... you're just honing your craft! Happy Summer! Tom and Linda Williams |
